Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Because you are here already, I assume you are interested in taking a piano lesson or, at least, are thinking about it. Let me explain the hidden advantages of taking piano lessons:

  • A piano is the only musical instrument that utilizes ten fingers, both hands, and both legs equally. In other words, learning the piano encourages equal dexterity between the left and the right limbs. Therefore, playing piano activates the whole brain because the task requires the same amount of work from the left and right parts of the brain.

  • Study shows that intensive piano lessons in early childhood will result in significant structural changes in the brain after only 15 months of lessons.

  • In adults, piano lessons will prevent the early onset of dementia. A study also shows that piano lessons slow the progress of Parkinson's disease.

  • Last but not least, the piano is the mother of musical instruments. All musicians and singers should have a certain level of piano proficiency.

About me

  • I hold an LRSM (Licentiate of the Royal School of Music) diploma in piano performance from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (London, UK).

  • I have taught piano since 1999. Decades of teaching experience enable me to acquire more than enough teaching tricks to help students with various problems.

  • Besides piano performance, my musical endeavor has brought me to the world of music theory. My research interest is in chromaticism and the Neo-Riemannian music theory.

My teaching

  • I offer piano lessons to students from as young as 4.5 or 5 years old (depending on the child's maturity)  to adults.

  • My piano lesson is always one-on-one, even when I teach siblings or a family because each student is unique and needs an individual approach.

  • Besides piano lessons, I also offer:

    • Separate music theory lessons to prepare students for the ABRSM music theory exam.

    • Separate ear training lessons to prepare students for the musicianship part of the ABRSM performance exam, and for music college students who need help with their ear training classes.

  • My teaching adheres to the ABRSM curriculum, an international music examination board based in London, UK, which aims to produce musicians rather than just piano players. Thus, I instill in my students an understanding of the music they play by incorporating music theory and music history into my teaching.

My teaching philosophy
I don't believe in talent, and my teaching experiences prove it. A student's success comes from the student's hard work and the teacher's ability to provide effective and efficient teaching.
